Case sudies –
Proven outcomes, trusted partnerships

Every organisation is different – but the challenges around IT, security and reliability are often the same.

Our case studies show how Nova supports businesses across a range of sectors, helping them reduce risk, improve day-to-day operations, and plan confidently for growth.

Rather than focusing on technical detail, these examples highlight outcomes: how problems were resolved, how systems were stabilised, and how clients gained peace of mind knowing their technology was being looked after properly.

Some case studies are anonymised to protect client confidentiality – particularly where security, compliance or commercial sensitivity is involved. What remains consistent is the approach: joined-up support, clear accountability, and long-term partnership.

A Long-Term IT Partnership: From On-Premise Server to Full Cloud Transformation

Sector: Professional Services & Governance
Services: Managed IT | Virtualisation | Microsoft 365 | Wireless Infrastructure | 24/7 Managed Security | SOC

The Background

When we first took on the management of this client’s IT, the organisation was running on a traditional on-premise server infrastructure — typical of the era, but carrying with it the inherent limitations of ageing hardware, a single point of failure, and little capacity to adapt to the changing demands of a modern workplace. Over the course of our partnership, and as technology has continued to evolve, we have worked closely with the client to guide them through a carefully considered, phased journey — first transitioning from their on- premise environment to a virtualised infrastructure, and ultimately completing the move to a fully cloud-based Microsoft 365 solution. Each step has been taken at the right time, in the right way, ensuring continuity of service whilst consistently improving the capability, resilience, and security of their IT environment.

Where They Are Today

The organisation now operates entirely in the cloud, with Microsoft 365 at the heart of everything they do. The offices have been modernised with smart wireless access points providing fast, reliable connectivity across the whole site — enabling staff to hold confidential online meetings from any area of the building when dedicated meeting rooms are in use. Staff can collaborate, communicate, and share data with ease whether working from the office or remotely, with no compromise to performance. Underpinning it all is an enterprise-grade security operation: the Microsoft 365 environment is continually managed and monitored through behavioural analysis, next-generation email security, and AI-assisted threat detection, supported by dedicated security specialists with 24/7 oversight through a centralised Security Operations Centre. Any suspicious activity is identified, investigated and resolved swiftly — keeping the organisation protected at all times and from any location.

The Outcome

The contrast with where the client started could not be more striking. What was once a rigid, on-premise environment dependent on ageing hardware has been transformed into a modern, resilient, and fully cloud-based infrastructure built for the way people work today. Compliance is maintained across all working locations, and the organisation benefits from the peace of mind that comes with knowing their environment is actively protected around the clock by specialists who take genuine ownership of their security. This is the result of a long-term partnership built on trust — one where we have consistently advised and delivered the right solutions at the right time, growing alongside our client as their needs and the technology landscape have evolved.

Network Infrastructure Design & Installation for a New Educational Building

Sector: Education & Academic Institutions
Services: Structured Cabling | Fibre Connectivity | Wireless Network | Project Co-ordination

The Challenge

An educational establishment undertaking the construction of a new building faced the challenge of ensuring its network infrastructure was designed, installed, and integrated seamlessly with the wider site — all without disrupting the ongoing building programme. The new block needed to be fully connected to the existing campus network from day one, with structured cabling and wireless coverage capable of supporting the full range of ICT requirements for both staff and students. Getting this right required early engagement, careful planning, and close co-ordination with multiple stakeholders across both the school and the construction team.

Our Approach

We engaged early in the project, attending site meetings with the building contractors to ensure the structured cabling infrastructure was co-ordinated effectively alongside the construction works — avoiding costly retrofitting and ensuring installations were completed at the right stage of the build. Detailed discussions with senior leadership and the on-site IT team allowed us to establish the precise networking requirements for the building, ensuring the infrastructure was designed to meet both current needs and future demands. A fibre connection was installed to link the new building directly to the existing campus network, providing a high-speed, resilient backbone between the two. Throughout the building, a full Cat6 cabling infrastructure was installed to all areas, supporting the ICT equipment needs of every room. This was complemented by a wireless network spanning all floors, providing staff and students with dependable connectivity from any location within the building.

The Outcome

The new building was handed over with a fully operational, integrated network infrastructure ready to support learning from day one. By engaging early and maintaining close collaboration with both the construction team and internal stakeholders, the project was delivered smoothly, on time, and without disruption to the broader building programme. Staff and students benefit from reliable wired and wireless connectivity throughout the building, fully integrated into the wider campus environment. The establishment now has a robust, scalable network infrastructure in its new block — built to meet today’s demands and adaptable for the needs of tomorrow.

IT Integration & Cloud Migration for a Growing Manufacturing Group

Sector: Manufacturing, Engineering & Production
Services: Infrastructure Integration | Migration to Microsoft 365 | SharePoint Migration

The Challenge

Following the acquisition of a complementary business, a UK-based manufacturing group faced the challenge of unifying two entirely separate IT environments. The acquired company operated on Google Workspace with files held on ageing on-premise servers, while the parent group was firmly embedded in the Microsoft ecosystem. With two sets of staff needing to work together effectively from day one, a clear, well-managed integration strategy was essential — one that would enable seamless collaboration without compromising the commercial confidentiality of either entity.

Our Approach

We delivered a full end-to-end integration, beginning with the onboarding of the acquired business into the group’s existing IT infrastructure. A carefully planned migration moved all users from Google Workspace to Microsoft 365, standardising email, calendars, and collaboration tools across the group. Simultaneously, on-premise file shares were migrated to SharePoint Online — structured to provide shared workspaces for cross-company collaboration, whilst maintaining strictly controlled permission boundaries to keep each company’s sensitive data appropriately segregated.

The Outcome

The integration was delivered without significant disruption to either business, maintaining continuity throughout the transition. Both companies now operate within a unified Microsoft 365 environment, with staff able to collaborate in real time, access files from any location, and share information efficiently across the group. Security boundaries remain firmly in place, ensuring commercially sensitive data stays protected. The group is now supported by a modern, scalable IT infrastructure — well-positioned to underpin its continued growth.

Network Modernisation & Cloud Migration for a Busy Hospitality Venue

Sector: Hospitality & Leisure
Services: Wireless Infrastructure | Microsoft 365 Migration | Cloud Connectivity | Leased Line & 5G Failover

The Challenge

A busy hospitality venue was being held back by an ageing IT infrastructure that was no longer fit for purpose. An outdated wireless network struggled to meet the growing demands of both guests and staff, while an on-premise server carried the dual burden of hosting file shares and a business-critical third-party booking platform. With a single point of failure at the heart of their operations and connectivity that fell short of guest expectations, the venue needed a comprehensive, phased programme of modernisation — one that would deliver immediate improvements whilst laying the groundwork for a fully resilient, cloud-first environment.

Our Approach

We began by replacing the existing wireless network with a fully managed, intelligent solution providing complete site coverage across all areas of the venue. The new infrastructure utilised the existing cabling, minimising disruption whilst delivering seamless client hand-off — ensuring guests and staff could move freely throughout the property without dropping calls or video conferencing sessions. Separate guest and staff networks were configured to maintain security and performance for both audiences. With connectivity transformed, attention turned to the server. On-premise file shares and data were migrated to Microsoft 365, giving staff the freedom to work from any location, eliminating the single point of failure the old server represented, and introducing automated daily backups as standard. This migration also created a clear and straightforward pathway to move the venue’s third-party booking software to the provider’s own cloud platform — removing a further dependency on ageing on-site hardware. To underpin it all, a dedicated 200Mbps leased line was installed, supported by a 5G wireless broadband failover — ensuring that even in the event of a primary connection failure, the venue remains fully operational. For a busy hospitality business, any period of downtime is simply not an option.

The Outcome

The results have been tangible and wide-reaching. Guests now enjoy reliable, high-quality connectivity throughout the venue, a improvement reflected in stronger facility scores across review platforms. Staff benefit from a modern, flexible working environment with access to files and systems from any location. The venue’s data is protected by multiple daily backups, with no single point of failure, and the business is fully insulated against connectivity outages through its leased line and 5G failover solution. What began as an infrastructure upgrade has delivered a resilient, scalable foundation — giving the venue the confidence to focus on hospitality, not IT.
